weinstein & riley: 10 Things I Wish I’d Known Earlier
This is an actual quote that I’ve heard a number of people use when discussing their own ideas of how to live. It seems to me to be the first and perhaps only way to explain the difference between a rational and irrational fear.
A rational fear is one where we are afraid because something we know is going to happen, but we don’t know what it is. An irrational fear, on the other hand, is one where we are afraid because we know something is going to happen, but we don’t feel a need to worry about it.
The way to overcome an irrational fear is to identify the irrational part first, and then come up with a strategy to deal with the rational part. I think it can be best described by the term “cognitive dissonance.” When you are afraid of something, that’s a form of cognitive dissonance the rational part of your brain is trying to suppress. The irrational part of your brain wants to believe that maybe something will happen that makes you feel safe. So that’s what you do.
There are two ways to deal with the way you feel about your fears. In the first method, you try to change how you feel about the fear. That is the tactic most fear-based subjects (such as myself) use. We call this “denial” because we feel like we have to play “the victim” to get what we want. But there is a second way, that’s called “cognitive dissonance.
I want to call it cognitive dissonance because I think I know what it is. In cognitive dissonance your brain doesn’t agree with what you are saying, but doesn’t want to believe that you are wrong. I think that is why I feel so guilty about not being able to tell you that you have a tumor in your brain, you have cancer.
Cognitive dissonance is a way to say no. In other words, its not what you want it to be, because you do not want to be the one who says that. Your brain wants to believe that your idea is the truth, and your body wants to do exactly that.
Cognitive dissonance is the feeling that there is some contradiction in your belief, and that everything isnt exactly as it seems. Some people, for example, believe that they are really smart, but they dont really believe it themselves. You could get a lot of people who are a bit of a paradoxical mix, who are really smart, but dont show it in an outward way.
Some of the biggest problems with this kind of thinking are that it doesn’t take into account the possibility that there could be real contradictions in a person’s beliefs. This is the reason why some people believe that they really are smart, while others believe they are really stupid. Some even believe they’re both really intelligent, even though they claim to not really understand anything.
Weinstein and Riley are two men who actually are smart, but their outward appearance doesn’t reflect it. Weinstein is a successful entrepreneur, but he appears to have a lot of social problems. He’s the one that calls the shots for the team. Riley is one of the top athletes on the planet, but he seems to act like a dork. He’s the one that says “I don’t know what I’ve done, I’m just doing my best.
